How To Get Started With Video Marketing

hello and welcome to this episode of video marketing for startups I'm your host Renee Teeley and in this episode we're talking all about what video marketing is and some types of videos to consider for your business all that more coming up right after this so what is video marketing well simply put video marketing is the practice of using video as part of your marketing so it's gonna take a variety of different marketing forms including email marketing influence or marketing content marketing demand generation the list goes on and on and yes even paid advertising video can be one of the most powerful ways to drive marketing results for both b2b and b2c companies so let's talk about some of the benefits of using video companies that use video on average see an increase in organic traffic time on site and conversion rates it could also be one of the best ways to build a trusting relationship with your audience especially if you have someone on camera so it helps to build that know like and trust factor of your company social video generates 1,200 percent more shares than text and image content combined including a video on a landing page can increase conversion rates by 80 percent video in an email can lead to a 200 to 300 percent increase in click-through rates four times as many consumers prefer to watch a video about a product rather than read about it blog post and incorporate video attract three times as many inbound links as blog post without video so video can be an effective marketing tool but video shouldn't be done in isolation really it should be part of an integrated marketing strategy so I want you to think about how can you use video as part of your larger marketing picture creating an integrated marketing strategy with video can be a time-consuming process but it's worth exploring how video can help you achieve different goals throughout your organization so make sure that you're creating content with a purpose before you start your production think about what are the business goals that you're trying to achieve who's the audience that you're trying to reach and what do you want them to do is the next step after they watch your video that I help them form your video strategy as well as your video production efforts so in later videos I'll get into a bit more detail about the different aspects of an effective video marketing strategy but to get you started here are five types of videos to consider for your business video type number one is an explainer video an explainer video is typically a short animated video that explains your product service or company it's a great type of video to use if you want to communicate a complex idea and are really easy to understand sort of way the other benefit of using an explainer video is that often you don't actually need to show the UI of your product so that means that you don't need to update your explainer video each time you update your product UI or you add new features which startup companies can happen on a daily basis video type number two is an about US company video so this video is exactly what it sounds like it's a video about your company this is not the time to do a deep dive into a specific product and really this should be company centric so in this video you'll want to highlight things like why was the company created what's the company mission how are you different this is also a good time to showcase things like your company culture you know really let your unique qualities show through so the video type number three is a conference recap video so a lot of companies will spend money to sponsor an event or to send their employees to a conference to network to learn maybe to sell or promote their products or services this can be a great resource for content a conference recap can be done on location or you can do it when you return from the event and it's basically just a video talking about the key learning lessons from the event or some of your key takeaways this is a great type of content for a follow-up event email a blog post and social sharing video tip number four is a customer testimonial find a happy customer and you a simple interview of them talking about the challenges that they experienced the brought them to your company in the first place with their results of been and what their experience has been like to work with your company people trust industry influencers and peers far more than they trust you talking about how great your own company is so video tape number five is a video series answering frequently asked questions so create a video series that answers the top questions that you get from your customers and prospects likely you already have a list of frequently asked questions and hopefully you have answers so this is a great way to repurpose that content into a video series this type of series can help answer questions up front before you actually connect directly with your prospects it can be valuable content for brand awareness if you're answering industry specific questions and it's fantastic content for blog posts there's a variety of different
